Dr. Jemal Hassen holds a PhD in Food Security and Development from Addis Ababa University, where his research focused on household resilience to food insecurity in the context of drought and conflict in South Wollo, Ethiopia. He also earned an MSc in Food Security and Development Studies, an MBA in Project Management, a BA in Economics, and a Diploma in Agriculture. With 15+ years of humanitarian and development experience across Ethiopia, Liberia, Bangladesh, Niger, and South Sudan, he has led multi-sectoral programmes in food security, livelihoods, health, WASH, education, protection, and DRR. He currently serves as Country Director for Islamic Relief Worldwide in Niger and has published several peer-reviewed articles.
